Up for sale is a fantastic vintage Christopher Radko blown glass ornament. This ornament was made in 1997 and its one of the most unique ornaments I've run across in a long time. I believe this is one half of a pair titled "Run Aways" that's based on the nursery rhyme "Hey, Diddle Diddle" If you need a reminder of the rhyme I did! The cats in the fiddle. The cow jumped over the moon.

And the dish ran away with the spoon. This is a fantastic and unique ornament! I believe this is the "dish" of the "Run Aways" set. There is spoon that is dressed as a girl I don't have it but I wish I did! That is the other part of this set.

One of my favorite things about this ornament is you really get the sense of movement in a stationary ornament! His arms and legs are positioned so well that you know he's running! His jacket and pants have wonderful bright colors that are accented with glitter so he sparkles, but it's not just overwhelming glitter that blows out all the detail! His scooped face is charming! The gold paint of his head is warm, rich, and has a satin sheen.

It reminds me of 22k gold. His eyes have a mischievous but playful look and he has heart shaped lips- it's little details like this that made Radko so cherished! The ornament measures approximately 6 1/2" tall x 2" wide and it has typical wear for an ornament that was displayed, nothing huge, but it's not pristine. There are two small areas of paint loss that I can see. One is on the backside of the stem that's approximately 1/8 long and is about a pen tip wide.

The other area is on the front of the stem and it's kind of hard to describe. There is a pen tip sized round spot and next to it there's a sort of scratch. I got out my loupe because my middle age eyes really can't distinguish anything other than the pen tip sized spot. It looks more like a small collection of very fine scratches.

Some of the scratches don't go all the way through the paint, so they're very hard to make out unless you're looking directly at them. The last thing I can see is the wire hanger looks tarnished.

I personally don't find any of the wear distracting, but it is there. The cap is shiny, bright and marked Radko. I do not have the original paper tag.

This is a great Radko ornament that is hard to find. It will definitely become a family favorite!
