Vintage Swell Noel Ceramic Lighted White Christmas Tree 19 Musical Works
You are viewing a wonderfully retro vintage ceramic lighted Christmas tree. It measures a large 19" high x 14" wide, and features a white ceramic tree with gold trimmed branches, multi colored lights and a key winding musical base. The colored lights have a retro starburst design on each bulb. The song played is appropriately White Christmas. There is a removable retro pink ceramic ornament at the top that reads, "Swell Noel". It has a hanging ribbon and a sprig of mistletoe at the top of the ornament. The original owner glued felt around the bottom of the tree where it attaches to the base to protect both pieces.
Initialed on the base by SF. The bottom of the base has a bolt that can be unscrewed to change the lightbulb. It makes a wonderful nostalgic showpiece to a Christmas display. This was originally a 3 part mold tree, but the top and bottom of the tree were adhered together when it was made so that the tree was all one piece. There is felt glued to the base so that the tree is protected from the base, and I think it may be covering the mold identification.
Despite the tree being fused together, it was found in 3 pieces. The former owner thought that the top came apart from the base in the fused location and they forced it apart. When repairing it, I found that most of the damage done was only obvious to the inside. There are a couple of small repair lines that are visible on the exterior, but you would have to look under the tree to see most of it. (See the last 2 pictures).
The repair is strong and permanent. I have basically reconnected it to the way it was when it was made. The light, switch and music all function properly.
All of the lights are accounted for and are tightly attached. There is no wear to the gold paint. The base has age crazing, but the tree does not. I have included a picture of the crazing as well.
